Luis Cataldi

Academic Advisor, Epic Games

Luis Cataldi has been shaping the world of computer graphics since the early 1990s, starting as a 3D generalist in NYC and LA, where he worked on television commercials, visual effects, music videos, and feature films. He then transitioned to animated features at Blue Sky Studios, contributing to Ice Age 2 and Robots. Following that, he co-founded the game studio Kaos, serving as Art Director for Frontlines: Fuel of War and early development on Homefront, both projects built with Unreal Engine 3.

Alongside his industry work, Luis has been an active educator, teaching at NYU and eventually leading SCAD’s Interactive Design and Game Development department to back-to-back wins at the E3 College Game competition. Later, he joined Epic Games in 2014 to help build the Unreal Engine Education team, and subsequently returned to SCAD as the Associate Dean of the School of Visual Media, Design, and Visual Communications in Atlanta. Now, Luis is back at Epic, serving as a consultant and advisor, helping integrate Unreal Engine into academic programs.
